Each session is designed for individuals of ALL AGES and is aimed at expanding their horizon in the arts.
Join us for a virtual two-part series featuring pianist Jacqueline Schwab. From the soundtracks of Ken Burns’ documentaries to the White House to the PBS American Roots special with The American Pops Orchestra, pianist Jacqueline Schwab is known for evoking the American musical past, but in a fresh, personal way.
Jacqueline will showcase her newest project I Lift My Lamp - Illuminations from Immigrant America as well as perform arrangements of traditional song and dance tunes reflecting different aspects of winter.
This experience is designed to stimulate creativity.
- Wednesday, January 18: I Lift My Lamp—Illuminations from Immigrant America. Jacqueline will showcase her arrangements of vintage song and dance tunes connected to immigrants to celebrate community music making and America’s cultural diversity. She will perform music from Western and Eastern European, Latin American and other immigrants and invite listeners to reflect on their own musical roots and the pride they can feel in their own heritage.
- Wednesday, January 25: Drive the Cold Winter Away. Jacqueline will perform her piano arrangements of traditional song and dance tunes reflecting different aspects of winter—storms, cold, hibernation, loneliness—but also community fun times, such as skating. Her pieces, drawn from traditional Celtic and American roots, will encourage participants to find warmth and to relax and regroup during the quiet winter months, before the busy springtime.
Each session is free and is provided by Workforce Opportunity Services.
