Lynn Cummings is a watercolor, acrylic and mixed media artist and art instructor from Vermont. Her love of travel and of nature are apparent in her paintings and collages. She likes to experiment with different materials, subjects and styles. The unexpected surprises that happen in watercolor and fluid acrylics are exciting and she embraces those serendipitous happenings in her works. She is a gardener and loves painting brightly colored florals from the plants she and her friends grow as well as those in botanical gardens and in the wild. You can see more of her work and learn about her workshops and classes on Facebook - Lynn Cummings Art.
"Since childhood I have loved making art and appreciating art made by others, both historically and present-day artists. I love exploring new art mediums, processes and materials. Encouraging others to delve into art and explore their own creativity is rewarding for me, particularly working with students who were traumatized by adults when they were children making art. I love teaching people to express themselves freely, and not to box themselves in with rules about what they can and can’t do.
Color is the most important aspect of my art, and one of the joys of my life. I paint subjects of things that I love – nature, gardens, and landscapes both from my home in Vermont as well as my travels throughout the U.S. and dozens of other countries. My paintings, as well as my teaching, tend to be impressionistic to abstract, as ultra-realism leaves no room for mystery nor interpretation by people viewing my work.
In addition to painting, I have been an interior decorator and have designed custom furniture, jewelry and clothing."
